장선주 (JANG SEONJU) 장선주는 한국창작무용을 기반으로 전통의 정서와 동시대적 신체 언어를 결합한 작업을 이어가고 있는 연출가이자 안무가이다. 전통적 감각이 현재의 신체 안에서 어떻게 새롭게 생성될 수 있는지를 탐구한다. Jang Seon-ju is a director and choreographer who continues to create works based on Korean creative dance that combine traditional sentiments with contemporary bodily language. 무용 〈슈룹〉은 ‘우산’의 옛말인 슈룹을 메타포로 삼아, 슬픔과 삶의 무게를 대신 감당해온 존재의 시간을 다루는 작품이다. 이 작품은 ‘우리는 언제부터 누군가의 슬픔을 대신 맞아주기 시작했는가’라는 질문에서 출발하며, 보호와 책임이라는 이름 아래 지속되어온 역할의 구조를 몸의 언어로 탐구한다. The dance piece ‘Shurup’ takes ‘shurup’, an old word for umbrella, as a metaphor and deals with the time of an existence that has borne the weight of sorrow and life on behalf of others. Starting from the question, "When did we start taking on someone else's sorrow on their behalf?", the work explores, through the language of the body, the structure of roles that have persisted under the name of protection and responsibility. |
